Statement on the Current Crises in Ethiopia

Vision Ethiopia, a non-partisan association of Ethiopian scholars and professionals, denounces in the strongest terms the ethnically targeted violence waged by Oromumma extremists, with the demonstrably covert support of the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Vision Ethiopia is of the firm conviction that the ongoing genocidal violence and aggressive power consolidation by the Oromumma movement across the country can only happen with the knowledge and indubitable complicity of the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

No government in the history of mankind has apathetically tolerated in its domain the kind of brazen violence and brutality that has been raging in Ethiopia unless the government itself has a role in the execution of the crimes, as was the case with Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy in Ethiopia and, recently, Interhwame Rwanda.

Presently, Ethiopia has faced a serious existential threat more than ever before in its long history. A country that has survived repeated onslaughts over the centuries — including Jihadist conquests, such as the one by Imam Ahmed Ibrahim al-Ghazi in the 16^th Century, subsequent aggressive Oromo expansionism, and the brutal fascist invasion in the 1930’s — is once again on the verge of collapse.

The threat, which was contrived and engineered by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and external forces, such as Egypt and Islamic fundamentalism, is currently being fueled by Oromumma ethnic fanaticism.

The Oromumma ideology, which is tantamount to ‘Oromo supremacy’ or ‘Oromo first’, is a regressively selfish line of thinking rooted in the ‘Geda’ system. Its primary tenet is the Oromization of the mainland through a multifaceted and well-planned and

choreographed strategy consisting of genocidal violence on one hand; and military, political and economic domination, on the other. The gruesome task of ethnic cleansing and terrorizing the nation is entrusted to the Oromo Liberation Army, which has targeted with impunity Amharas, Orthodox Christians and other ethnic groups; while the Oromo supremacy and dictatorship is being fully realized under the leadership of Abiy Ahmed, who has an absolute control over the state machinery. Like the Oromo invaders of yesteryears, today’s Oromumma terrorists are on a crusade of ethnic cleansing and annihilation, rewriting history, and destroying religious institutions, historical icons, and major landmarks.

Over the last three years, Vision Ethiopia has made genuine efforts to positively engage the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with the futile hope of establishing a democratic and united Ethiopia, where all citizens have equal voice and enjoy their inalienable freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Regrettably, while preaching peace, love and prosperity, Abiy Ahmed has duplicitously promoted the deplorable scheme of Oromumma, founded on a fabricated history of entitlement and an agenda of ethnic cleansing. Since Abiy Ahmed assumed power in 2018, his regime has been characterized by actions that cannot, in earnest, be viewed as consistent with acceptable norms of decent and rational governance in the 21^st Century. To cite a few examples:

• Reminiscent of the genocidal regimes of Nazi Germany and Interhwame Rwanda, Abiy Ahmed’s government has countenanced ethnic cleansing, targeted against Amharas, and other members of the Orthodox Christian church and ethnic minority groups who live in regions claimed by Oromumma extremists.

• To implement the Oromumma policy of ethnic cleansing, Abiy Ahmed dubiously negotiated the repatriation of Oromo Liberation Front, without a requirement to lay down their arms, and allowed the terrorist group to rob banks, massacre innocent civilians and abduct college students with relative impunity.

• As part of the expansionist agenda of the Oromumma stratagem, Abiy Ahmed illegally transferred the governance of Addis Ababa to Oromumma proponents, squashed any potential opposition to the subjugation of the city, and openly shepherded the Oromization of the administration of the municipality and other branches of government. He incarcerated the Addis Ababa youth following the infamous Burayu massacre, and sent to prison Eskinder Nega, the leader of Balderas, on trumped up charges.
• Abiy Ahmed’s clique orchestrated a violent uprising in the Amhara region in June of 2019, and ordered the execution of prominent leaders of the Amharas that were considered a threat, including Asaminew Tsigie.

• Abiy Ahmed systematically brought under the control of Oromumma exponents all major government positions and offices, including defense, security, judiciary, finance and the civil service.

After a thorough examination of the current state of Ethiopia and the uncontrollably destructive actions of the Oromumma terrorists, Vision Ethiopia has resolved the following:

1. Convinced that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is an enabler of the Oromumma aggression against the rest of Ethiopia, we express in the strongest terms our condemnation of his duplicitous schemes.
2. We call upon the people of Ethiopia to boycott the upcoming elections and demand for the immediate formation of a transitional government that would ensure the establishment of a truly democratic and united Ethiopia.
3. We express our solidarity with the victims of genocide, and groups that are working to prevent genocide. In particular, we applaud the measures taken by organizations, such as Orthodox Tewahedo Church Against Genocide in Ethiopia (OTAGE), to bring to international courts of justice leaders of the Oromumma terrorist movement for crimes they have committed against humanity.

4. We condemn all terrorist groups in Ethiopia, including TPLF, OLF and other Oromumma extremist factions, and call upon genuine Tigray and Oromo people to stand in solidarity with the rest of the people of Ethiopia to fight for freedom and equality.
5. We call upon the international community to support the ongoing resistance against extremist forces in Ethiopia, including TPLF, OLF and other Oromumma fanatic groups, and avert a looming catastrophe in the Horn of Africa.

Vision Ethiopia believes it is time for the silent majority of Ethiopians to wake up, for every citizen to come out of their ethnic cocoons, and to stand in unison against the Oromumma onslaught.

Addis Abeba, April 22/2021 – Amhara Prosperity Party (APP), the Amhara regional state chapter of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Prosperity Party (PP), has issued a scathing criticism against the opposition, National Movement of Amhara (NaMA), accusing it of being “anti-prosperity” enemy and vowed to “confront” it “face-to-face.”

Meanwhile, protest rallies in the region spread to many parts of the region for the fourth straight day with banners and chants criticizing the ruling party for the killings and displacement of Amharas in various parts of the country. Today, the protests spread to places including the historic Gonder city as well as Debre Birahan (for the 2^nd day), Debre Tabor, Kobo, Kombolacha and Adet, among others. The protests however have increasingly turned into venues where thousands are seizing the opportunity to express their displeasure with the ruling Prosperity Party, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other senior federal and regional officials of the Amhara and Oromia regional states.

In a statement APP issued last night in connection with the rallies, it recognized the purpose of the protests and pledged to work toward ensuring the safety and security of the Amhara people not only in the region but also in various parts of the country. It also acknowledged “weakness” within the Prosperity Party structure and vowed to work toward fixing them.

However, the party said the protest rallies were “hijacked” by ill-intended forces bent on destabilizing the country which include the TPLF, OLF/Shene, and Gumuz rebels.

fighting for the Amhara people but who do not represent the values of
the Amhara people,” the statement said. APP further accused NaMA
saying “other than its own banners and election posters, all others
representing competing parties were taken down and burned.”

APP also criticized the “disparaging, condemnations and character-assassinations” of federal and regional officials and said such acts were “outside the purpose of the protest rallies.” This is an apparent reference to messages written on banners and carried by rally goers accusing the ruling party officials including PM Abiy of being, among others, responsible for “ethnic cleansing” of the Amhara. “The Oromo know how to dismantle a country, not how to build one,” one banner reads, and calls out senior officials of the Oromo Prosperity Party (OPP) including Shimelis Abdissa, president of the Oromia regional state, and Taye Dendea, a senior official within the OPP, for failing to protect the killings of Amhara in the regional state. In a Facebook post, Taye on his part, openly called NaMA as “the main political cancer.”

In today’s protest in Gonder city rally goers carrying a banner condemning OPDO, the former name of the current OPP, of betraying the Amhara. “We are betrayed by the OPDO and not by brother people of the Oromo,” the banner reads. AS

በተጨማሪም አዳዲስ የህክምና አገልግሎት አሰጣጥ ሞዴሎችን እንዲፈቀዱ በማድረግ ለመተግበር እንዲቻል የተለያዩ ሃገራትን ልምድ በመቀመር የጤና ባለሞያዎች በተናጠልም ሆነ በጋራ የህክምና አገልግሎት እንዲሰጡ ለማድረግ የሚያስችሉ መመሪያዎችን የማዘጋጀት ሥራ ተጠናቆ የቤት ውስጥ የጤና አገልግሎት እንዲሁም በስልክ ጥሪ የሚደረጉ የጤና ድጋፎች መመሪያ ክለሳ መደረጉንም አስረድተዋል፡፡

Addis Abeba, April 22, 2021 – A renewed violence invoicing regional security forces and the
Kimant community in central Gonder, in Amhara regional states, left
several people dead and displaced as well as properties damaged.

The violence which picked intensity
last week and continued intermittently as of the publishing of this
news flared up after “armed groups and security forces” clashed
in Chilga Wereda of central Gondar zone, according
to the peace and security bureau head of the Amhara regional
state, Sisay Damte.

Addis Standard received testimonies from three members of the Kimant community who were following the situation closely. Melaku and Getahun (names changed for security reasons) recount the sequence of events that lead to the recent conflict and insist it was reminiscent of a previous clashes as was reported by Amnesty International; both blame the Amhara Regional state Special forces and Fano for being behind the latest bout of conflict.

Getahun recalled a support rally for Kimant Democratc Party days after the Prosperity Party chapter of the region held a rally of its own in Aykel town. Following the rally, Zonal administration of Central Gondar Zone convened a meeting with regional government officials in the town and delivered messages about taking measures on ‘anti peace forces’. The zonal administrator also accused the Kimant Democratic Party of having affiliations with Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) and Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), which was met by dissent from the attendees of the meeting.

Zonal officials fled the scene after confrontations grew; regional special forces and federal security forces soon embarked on an operation to arrest people. “Gunshots ensued around St. Michael church resulting in casualties to both the government forces and Kimant militias. Six civilians who were crossing the road were wounded.” Getahun said, adding, “the barrage continued on Wednesday April 14 in Kuwasmeda, Geta Feres and Tiwudiba neighborhoods. In the afternoon, Mortars were fired from the direction of a military camp of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) located near Seraba town.”

Melaku, the second source, corroborated the statement saying “the town was bombarded with Mortars on Wednesday April 14, 2021 claiming the lives of three civilians who are all members of one family.” Getahun said “The mortars were found in Kuwas meda neighborhood where houses were destroyed.” 

At the outset of the conflict, both electricity and water supplies were cut off in the town of Aykel, according to Melaku. In addition to that cellular networks were also cut off as of April 14 although  relative calm was restored to the areas in the following days.

“The town was still tense, roads to Gondar were closed and the ENDF was encamped.” Melaku explained “The Kimant community, fearful of more deployment of Amhara Special Forces began blocking roads but the Special Forces and Fano passed through the neighboring in Belgi woreda and went on looting and burning in Serte and Wartaye Kebeles” Melaku claims, adding “The community fled to Bezaho and Tembera kebeles with its cattle.”

“They say they are after TPLF and OLA rebels but the town is burned down, the residents are being killed and the remaining are fleeing their homes.”

Among the burned down properties is a gas station in Aykel town, according to Melaku, who described the active conflict in Aykel town when the Kimant community retaliated against the attacks by the Amhara Special forces and Fano. Eshetu, another witness whose name is changed for security reasons, corroborated the statement explaining the crackdown on the Kimant community using law enforcement against TPLF and OLA as a pretext. “They say they are after TPLF and OLA rebels but the town is burned down, the residents are being killed and the remaining are fleeing their homes.” he said, pleading, “Please be voice for the voiceless.”

Although Addis Standard couldn’t verify the figures, Getahun explained that 32 people were killed, 38 were injured, 25 houses were burnt causing property destruction including livestock. “Women and Children fled to Bulargi, Ankoba and Serargo Kebeles. But we don’t know their status after the communication blackout,” Melaku said.

On April 19, the head of the Peace and Security bureau of the Amhara region said that additional Amhara Special Forces were deployed to the central Gondar Zone and that blocked roads were reopened. By the end of the week the ministry of defense stated that federal and regional security forces were working alongside the community and local elders to peacefully resolve the security crisis between the Kemant and Amhara communities who have lived together for centuries.

Melaku added an earlier point of contention between the Kimant community and the Amhara regional state. “A couple of days before the clashes, armed Amhara rebels operating in the neighboring Woreda, Negade Bahir, were pardoned by the Amhara Regional State but similar demand for pardon by Kimant rebels escalated into a full blown conflict.” According to the him, both the Amhara and Kimant armed rebels were outlawed by the command post that was established in the area in 2019. “When the Amhara Regional State pardoned and integrated the Amhara armed rebels into their communities, the Kimant rebels demanded to be pardoned too.” Melaku added that “the regional government not only denied pardon to Kimant armed rebels but also responded by attacking the Kimant community with the help of Amhara Special forces, federal military and Fano.”

Confirming the presence of the conflict, Amhara Prosperity Party released a statement yesterday anddescribed the violence in Central Gonder Zone as ‘ethnically targeted’ similar to recent clashes in North Shewa Zone and Oromo Zone.

The Amhara PP also expressed its gratitude to regional and federal security forces for containing the clashes. “We would like to assure our people that we are committed to bringing to justice the perpetrators of the deaths and displacements of the people of Amhara,” the statement read, “Our party is ready to save this country and its people from this disaster by working together with the people of Amhara and other political forces.” 

The conflict in the area involving the minority Kimant community and the regional government is not new.

A referendum to determine the administrative jurisdiction of the Qimant people was held in eight Kebeles in September 2017. Seven of the eight Kebeles have voted to remain in the administrative jurisdiction of the Amhara Regional State, whereas Quaber Lomye Kebele voted to join the Kemant self-administrative zone, which was established two year prior to the referendum. The result of the September referendum was approved by the House of Federation in October 2017. Since then however, clashes have frequently visited the two communities. Activists blame “Kimant identity group”, which refused to accept the results of the referendum, for the clashes.

In its report published in May 2020, Amnesty International detailed the atrocities committed against the Qimant community.  The report covered the violence that took place mainly in 2019.  Amnesty International listed the regional special police, local administration militia and two Amhara youth vigilante groups who joined forces to attack members leaving at least 100 people dead and hundreds displaced. The attacks on the Qimant community came in the form of grenade attacks, shootings and setting homes on fire. The report read “Flyers and leaflets telling kimant civil servants to leave the area had been circulating since September 2018, but the authorities took no action,” Amnesty said. The regional governemnt denied the report as “false.”

Since then, there had been efforts by the Amhara regional state under the presidency of the late Ambachew Mekonnen (PhD) and the MInistry of Peace to resolve the issue through dialogue. Addis Standard’s repeated attempt to contact the head of peace and security bureau, the commander of Amhara Special Forces as well as the head of Amhara communication Bureau were all to no avail. AS

ኢትዮጵያ ጠላቶችዋ በየፈርጁ ናቸው፣ ማዕከላቸውም ግብጽ ነች። ከሁሉም በላይ ኢትዮጵያን ያመሰቃቀለችው የስብሃት–መለስ ዕጅ ሥራ የሆነችው የባንዳዎች ስብስቧ ትህነግ ነች። ወያኔ በዝብዛ፣ በዝብዛ ሲበቃት– ኢትዮጵያን – የመምራትና የማስተዳደር ችሎታ ለሌለው ቀማኛ ቡድን አሳልፋ ሠጥታ – እርሷ ተደላድላ በወርቅ መቅረዝ በተሠራ ቤት ውስጥ ለመኖር ነበር ትልሟ። እግዚአብሄር ግን ቀድሞ ትቢያ አደረጋት። ወያኔ አማራን እንደ ርዕዮተ ዓለም በጠላትነት ፈረጃ በመርሃ ግብሯ አሰፈረች። ይህን አማራን አጥፍቶ ኢትዮጵያን የማዳከሙን ዕቅድ አተገባበር አስቀድሞ የተገነዘቡት ፕሮፌሰር አሥራት ወልደየስ አማራው ራሱን መጠበቅ የሚያስችለውን መላ አማራ ሕዝብ ድርጅት (መዐህድ) መሠረቱ።

ምዕራፍ አንድ – የትህነግ የብልጽግና ዘመን (ዘመነ ኤፈርት–ሜቴክ) – የአማራ ፍጅት

ሀ– ኢትዮጵያ ሕዝቦች ዴሞክራሲያዊ ንቅናቄ (ኢህድን) – ስብሃትና መለስ ገና በጠዋቱ አማራን ለማጥፋት ሲወጥኑ ትልቅ ብልሃት ሆነው ያገኙት ጥቅም ፈላጊዎችና ምርከኞችን አስባስቦ ኢህድን የተባለውን ድርጅት ጠፍጥፎ መሥራት ነው። የነ ስብሃት ምስለኔዎች እነ በረከት፣ ታምራት፣ አዲሱ፣ ወዘተ፣ የመጀመርያውን የአማራውን ጥቃት በበደኖ እና አርባጉጉ ላይ ጀመሩ። አቶ ታምራት ላይኔ “ከክልሉ ውጭ የሚገኛ አማራ ሁሉ ነፍጠኛ ነው“ሲል ደሃው አማራ ላይ ሞት አዘነበበት።

ለ– አማራ ሕዝብ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ድርጅት (አሕዴን)– ፕሮፌሰር አሥራት “መላ አማራ ሕዝብ ድርጅት“(መዐህድ) የሚለውን ለአማራ የሚቆረቆረውን ድርጅት ሲመሰርቱ ወያኔ – ኢህዴን – የተባለውን በ“ሀ” ላይ የተጠቀሰውን ድርጅት ስሙን “አማራ ህዝቦች ዴሞክራሲያዊ ንቅናቄ” (አህዴን) ብላ ቀየረችው። አህዴን ነፍጠኛ ብሎ የፈረጀውን አማራ ካለርኅራሄ መፍጀቱን ቀጠለበት። መዐህድ ፕሮፌሰር አሥራት ካረፉ በኋላ በቀኛዝማች ነቅዓ ጥበብ ሲመራ ቆይቷል። ኋላ ላይ አማራ በዘር ተደራጅቶ መሰባሰቡ ኢትዮጵያን ይከፋፍላል የሚል ሃሳብ መነጨ። ይህ አስተሳሰብ በመርህ ደረጃ ትክክል ቢመስልም ተጨባጩን ሁኔታ ግን ባለማገናዘቡ አማራው በአማራነቱ እንዳይደራጅ ትልቅ እንቅፋት በመሆን የፕሮፌሰ አሥራት ራዕይን ጋረደ።

ሐ-. ምርጫ 97- የተወሰኑ አባላት መዐህድን ለቀው መላ ኢትዮጵያ አንድነት ድርጅት (መኢአድ)የተባለውን ድርጅት አቋቋሙ። ይህ ድርጅት በኢንጂነር ኃይሉ ሻውል እንዲመራ ተደረገ። ከመዐህድ የተገነጠለው ሌላው ድርጅት በልደቱ አያሌው የሚመራው ኢትዮጵያ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ፓርቲ – ኢዴፓ – ነው። በኢንጂነር ኃይሉ ሻውል የሚመራው መኢአድ፣ በአቶ ልደቱ የሚመራው ኢዴፓ እና በፕሮፌሰር ብርሃኑ ነጋ የሚመራው ቀስተ ደመና – “ቅንጅት ለአንድነትና ለዴሞክራሲ ፓርቲ” ተብሎ በምርጫ ተወዳደረ። ሆኖም ግን –ኮሮጆ ገልብጦ “አሸንፌአለሁ “ያለው ወያኔ ወጣቱን ግንባር ግንባሩን በጥይት ከመታ በኋላ የኦህዴድን መቀመጫ ከናዝሬት አዳማ ወደ አዲስ አበባ በማዞር አማራውን ከማሸማቀቅ ባለፈ አዲስ አበባ በኦሆዴድ ሥልጣን ሱሰኞች እንድትወረር አደረገ። ከቅንጅት በኋላ ወያኔ የበቀል ጅራፍዋን አወፈረችው።

መ-. ድህረ ቅንጅት – አማራው እጅጉን የተጎዳው ከቅንጅት መሰባበር በኋላ ነበር። ሀገር ውስጥ የቀረው ፍርክርኩ ፓርላማ ሲያደምቅ እውጭ የወጣው ሌላኛው ክፋዩ ቅንጅት እንደገና ለሁለት ተከፈለ (Kinijit International Council (KIC) and Kinijit International league (KIL)። ቅንጅት ሲከፋፈልና ሁሉም በሚያመችው መንገድ የትግል ስልት ሲቀይስ አማራው ተረሳ። በተለይም ግንቦት ሰባት የተባለው ድርጅት በርካታ አማራ ምሁራንን እንዲሁም የኪነትና ሥነ ጥበብ ሰዎችን በሥሩ በማቀፉ ለአማሮች ድምጽ የሚሆነው ቁጥር ሰለለ። የአማራ እልቂት ብሎም የኢትዮጵያን መፍረስ ያስከትላል የሚሉ ጥቂቶች ድምጽ ለማሰማት ቢሞክሩም የወቅቱን የፕሮፖጋንዳ በትር ማሸነፍ ተሳናቸው።

ሠ.- አማራው እንዳይደራጅ ማዘናጋት – ሰው በባህርይው ተታላይ ነው። መደለያ ሲሰጠው፣ ሹመት ሲቀጥሉለት ይዘናጋል። ማንም ሰው ለሃገሩ መታገል ግዴታ አለበት። ነገር ግን አንዱን እጅግ ጣርያ ሰቅሎ ማንቆለጳጰስ፣ ከስሙ ፊት የሙገሳ መጠርያዎችን መቀጠል፣ ሲራመድ ማጀብ፣ እርሱን ብቻ ጣራ ሰቅሎ ማጨብጨብና መሸለም፣ ወዘተ፣ ጤናማ ያልሆነ የውድድር ስሜትን ይፈጥራል። መልካም ያልሆነ የውድድር ስሜት መፍጠር ሌሎች የቻሉትን እንዳያደርጉ ማዳከም ነው። ብዙዎች ለጥቂቶች ከማጨብጨው አልፈው ለብዙሃን እንዳይቆሙ በተደናቂዎች ጫማ ልክ ብቻ እንዲራመዱ ሲደረግ የተበደሉ፣ የተጎሳቆሉ ይረሳሉ። ወያኔ ይህን አመቺ ሁኔታ እየተጠቀመ መደራጀት ያቃተውን አማራን ይፈጃል።

ምዕራፍ ሁለት – የኦነግ የብልጽግ ዘመን (ዘመነ ተረኝነት) – አማራን መጨፍጨፍ

ሀ. ኦሮ–ማራ – ዲያብሎስ መለስ ዜናዊ ወደ ሲዖል ከወረደ ወድያ ሕዝባዊው ትግል እጅግ ተፋፋመ። የአማራ ልጆች ፋኖ፣ የኦሮሞ ልጆች ቄሮ፣ የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ልጆች እጀቶ – እየተባሉ በአንድነት ተነስተው ትህነግን ቁም ስቅል አበሏት። ወያኔ ግድያውን በኦሮሞ ክልል ስታበዛ “የኦሮሞ ደም ደሜ ነው” አለ ወጣቱ ከጎንደር። ደጉ አማራ በቀለ ገርባ ይፈታ ሲል ጮኸ። የኦሮሞም ወጣት “የአማራ ደም ደሜ ነው” በማለት ምላሹን ሠጠ። መሠሪዎች ይህን ትግል ሠርቀው ለኦኔግ ገጸ በረከት አረጉት። አማራው” ኢትዮጵያ ሱሴ ነች” በሚለው ምትሃት ሲዘናጋ ኦነጎች አራት ኪሎ ለመግባት ስልቶች አበጃጁ። ኦሮ–ማራ በሕዝባዊ ትግል የተዳከመችዋንና በሙስና የተፍረከረከችዋን ወያኔ አባሮ ሥልጣን የመንጠቁ ምሥጢራዊ አካሄድ ሆነ። በአቶ ደመቀ የሚመራው አህዴን፣ በአቶ ለማ የሚመራው ኦህዴድ፣ በወይዘሮ ሙፈርያት የሚመራው የደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ሕዝቦች ዴሞክራሲያዊ እንቅስቃሴ – መክሮ ዘክሮ ምሥጢሩን ጠብቆ መቅኖ የራቃትን ሙሰኛይቱን ወያኔን በምርጫ ከፈጠፈጣት በኋላ ሥልጣኑን በስምምነት ለኦሆዴድ አስረከበ። ኦሮ–ማራ የ “ተረኝነት” መሠረትና አማራውን የመፍጀቱ የደደቢቱ ማኒፌስቶ ግልባጩ የሚጻፍባት ስውር ብራና ነበረች።

ለ. ኦሮሞ ዴሞክራሲያዊ ፓርቲ (ኦዴፓ – ብልጽግና)–  ዶክተር አብይ ወታደሮች ቤተ መንግሥት ድረስ መጥተው በከበቧቸው ጊዜ “መንግሥታችን ተነካ ብሎ ሕዝቡ ከቡራዩ ሊመጣ ነበር” ሲሉ ምን ማለታቸው ነበር? ዶክተር አብይ ሥልጣኑን ከተረከቡ ጀምሮ ለሶስት ዓመታት ያለማቋረጥ አማራው ሲገደል ለምን ዝም አሉ? አንዳንዶች እሳቸው ምን ያድርጉ ከሥራቸው ያሉት አላሠራ ሲሏቸው ይላሉ። ግን እነ ብጄ አሳምነው ጽጌ ላይ ሲሆን እንደምን በረቱ? ወይም ምንም ወንጀል ያልሰራውን እስክንድር ለማሰር ሲሆን እንደምን ጨከኑ? በኦዴፓ ውስጥ አንድ ምሥጢራዊ ስብስብ እንዳለ ይታያል። ይህን ስብስብ ዶክተር አብይ ይወቁት፣ አይወቁት ማስረጃ ባይኖርም ኦዴፓ ግን የኦሆዴድ ቅጥያ በመሆን እነ ጄል አሳምነው ጽጌን፣ ዶክተር አምባቸውን፣ አቶ ምግባሩንና ሌሎችንም አስወግዶ አማራውን ካለ ተቆርቋሪ አስቀረ።

ምዕራፍ ሶስት – የብልጽግና ካባ የለበሰው ኦነግ የመጨረሻው ዕቅድ – አማራ ክልልን መውረር

እልቂት በትህነግ የታወጀበት አማራ፣ ቁም ስቅል ያየው አማራ፣ የሰው ልጅ የማይችለው መከራ የተፈራረቀበት አማራ፣ ገደል የተወረወረው አማራ፣ ወዘተ፣ – ሌላስ ምን ቀረ። የቀራቸው ሰሜን ሸዋ፣ ጎንደር፣ ጎጃም፣ ወሎ – እነዚህን ምድሮች ማጋየት ነው። አማራ ብልጽግና (አዴፓ) ተብሎ የተሰየመው ስብስብ አንዳች እርምጃ መውሰድ ያልቻለ የኢህድን ቅጥያ ነው። ኦነጎች ትህነግ የጀመረችውን አማራውን የማጽዳትና የዘር ፍጅት ተረክበው – ቡራዩ፣ ሻሸመኔ፣ ዝዋይ፣ አርሲ፣ ወለጋ፣ መተከል፣ ቤንሻንጉል፣ ወዘተ፣ ላይ ብዙሃን አማራን ከጨረሱና ንብረቱን ቤተ ክርስትያኑን ካቃጠሉ በኋላ ሰሜን ሸዋ አጣዬ ደረሰው ከተማዋን ሲያወድሙ አዴፓ አንዳች አልተነፈሰም። ተገንና ደጋፊ ያጣው አማራ፣ ጊዜው ደርሶ ነው – በቃ – ያለው። አማራው ምን መደረግ እንዳለበት ራሱ ያውቃል። እኔ እንደ አንድ ግለሰብ እነዚህን መፍትሄዎች ልጠቁም።

ምዕራፍ አራት – ኢትዮጵያን ከመፈራረስ ለማዳን የመፍትሄ ሃሳቦች።

አማራ ነፍጠኛ ነው። ዛሬ ለነፍጥ አዲስ የሆኑ ሁከተኞች ነፍጥ ይዘው ሲፈጁት ዝም ያለው ማህበራዊ ቀውስ እንዳይባባስ ጀግኖች የሞቱላት ኢትዮጵያ እንዳትመሰቃቀል እንጂ እሱም እንደነሱ ነፍጥ አንስቶ አጸፋ መመለስ አቅቶት አይደለም። አማራ ሃይማኖተኛ ነው፣ ብዙ ይታገሳል፣ ሠላም ይወዳል፣ ነፍጥ ካነገበም አጠቃቀሙን ያውቅበታል። አማራ ትምክህተኛ አይደለም፣ አስተዋይ እንጂ። አማራ ጠላቱ ኦህዴድ እንጂ የኦሮሞ ሕዝብ አይደለም። አማራ ሁሉንም ብሄር ብሄረሰብ ይወዳል።

ሀ. – አማራ ቀድሞ ፕሮፌሰር አሥራት ወልደየስ እንዳቋቋሙት ባለ አንድ ድርጅት ሥር ዳግም መደራጀት አለበት። መከፋፈሉ ግብጽንና ልጆቿን እነ ኦነግን ጮቤ ያስረግጣል። መከፋፈሉ አማሮችን ለርህራሄ ቢሶቹ ሁለገብ ጥቃት ይዳርጋል። ኢትዮጵያ እግዚአብሄር ቃል የገባላት አገር ናትና አማራ በአንድ ልብ፣ በወኔ፣ በላቀ ስሜት ተደራጅቶ ዘሩንም ኢትዮጵያንም የማዳን አደራ አለበት።

ለ. – የትግራይ ሕዝብ በባህል፣ በኃይማኖት፣ በሥነ–ልቦና፣ በመልካዓ ምድር አማራን ይቀርባል። የትግራይ ልጆች የባንዳ ውላጆች የቀረጹትን ክፉ አስተሳሰብ እርግፍ አድርጎ ትቶ እንደ አጼ ዮሃንስ ኢትዮጵያን በማዳኑ ሥራ ላይ ሊሰማሩ ይገባል።

ሐ. አገር ወዳዱ ጀግናው የኦሮሞ ሕዝብ እንደ ራስ ጎበና አባ ዳጬ ተነስ። ኦሮሞ ንጹህ ኢትዮጵያዊ ነው። እነዚህ ለግብጽ አድረው በስሙ የሚነግዱበት ኦነጎችና መሰሎቹ ኦሮሞን ለማያልቅ እልቂት ዳርገው ሊምነሸነሹ አንዳሰቡ ልትገነዘብ ይገባሃል። በኃይማኖት፣ ጎሳና ነገድ የተከፋፋሉት የኦሮሞ ልህቃን እንኳንስ ሠፊውን የኦሮሞን ሕዝብ ሊመሩ ቀርቶ እራሳቸውን ማስተዳደር የማይችሉ ቅምጥሎች ናቸው። የአማራና ኦሮሞ ሀገር የማዳን ጥምረት የሆነውን ኦሮ–ማራ የተበላሸው በነዚህ ቅምጥሎች ደባ ነው። የሸወዱ የመሰላቸው ሁሉ የተሸወዱት እራሳቸው ናቸው። ጀግናውን የኦሮም ሕዝብ የማይወክሉት የሥልጣን ቀበኞች ንዋይና በየሆቴሉ መሽቀርቀሩ ዓይናቸው ጋርዶት እንጂ ቢያስተውሉ ኖሮ ትህነግ ላይ የደረሰው መከራ ትምህርት በሆናቸው ነበር።

መ. ኢትዮጵያን የምትወድ መላ ኢትዮጵያውያን ሁሉ ከአማራው ጎን ተሰልፈህ ኢትዮጵያን ማዳን አለብህ። ኢትዮጵያን ከዘመነ መሣፍንቱ ክፍፍል አላቀው የቀድሞ ማንነትዋ እንዲመለስ የወጠኑት አጼ ቴዎድሮስ ናቸው። ኢትዮጵያን ከቅኝ ገዥዎች ሠለባነት የታደጉት አጼ ሚኒልክ ናቸው። አጼ ሚኒልክ መላ ኢትዮጵያን በአረንጓዴ፣ ቢጫ ቀይ ባንዲራ አጣምረው አፍሪካንና በምድር ዙርያ በቅኝ ገዥዎች የሚሠቃዩትን ነጻ ያወጡ ብልህና ጀግና መሪ ናቸው። ሃቁ ይህ ነው። አማራ ነፍጠኛ እየተባለ ሲገደል የቆየው ነፍጥ ይዞ አጼ ቴዎድሮስንና አጼ ሚኒልክን ተከትሎ ኢትዮጵያን ስላስዋባት፣ አብሮ መኖርን ስላስተማረ፣ ባርነትን ስላስቀረ፣ ወዘተ፣ ነው። ኢትዮጵያን ማዳን ዛሬም ግድ ይላልና መላ ኢትዮጵያውያን ከአማራ ትግል ጎን ልትሰለፍ ይገባል።

ሠ. ኢትዮጵያ በአጼ ሚኒልክ ዘመን እንደነበረው ክልላዊ ፌደራሊዝም ወይም በመልካዓ ምድር የተካለለ ፌደራሊዝም – መርጦ ተወያይቶ ሥራ ላይ ማዋሉ የወደፉቱ የቤት ሥራ ነው። የዛሬው አፋጣኝ ሥራ እስላም ክርስትያኑ በፍቅር የሚኖርባትን ኢትዮጵያን ከግብጽ ሎሌዎች መዳፍ አላቆ ኅልውናዋን ማስቀጠሉ ነው። እነዚህ ሁሉ ሥራዎች ስንሰራ ብቻችንን አይደለንም፣ ኃያሉ እግዚአብሄር አብሮን ነው። እመብርሃን ትለምንልናለች። እኛ እንጀምራለን አምላካችን ይፈጽምልናል። አማራንም ኢትዮጵያንም ማጥፋት ፈጽሞ አይቻልም።

West aims to punish Ethiopia using Tigray crises ruse to contain Chinese influence in region, say experts

Pressure from the West, particularly the US, on Ethiopia to cease military operations and engage in dialogue with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) could prove counterproductive and destabilize the country, analysts are warning.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Endale Belay, a lecturer in the Ethiopian Civil Service University, said the US and the EU have been threatening sanctions and other coercive measures in a bid to force Ethiopia to return political space to now-defunct TPLF.

Last week the US Senate and foreign ministers of G7 countries — the world’s seven advanced economies — passed separate resolutions to put pressure on Ethiopia. Earlier the UN Security Council met four times but failed to arrive at a consensus to take punitive measures against Ethiopia.

“The multipronged pressure has been defacing, confusing, intimidating, and alienating Ethiopia from its neighbors and global partners subdue it [Ethiopia] to their multifaceted hidden agendas,” said Endale.

Wuhibegzer Ferede, a teacher in Bahir Dar University in the Amhara Region in Ethiopia apprehended that the US and its allies may hold back financial aid and issue crippling sanctions.

The European Union has postponed 90 million euros ($109 million) budgetary support to Ethiopia due to what it said the “lack of access to the country’s Tigray region to deliver humanitarian aid”.

The Biden administration has also paused $272 million worth of development and security assistance to Ethiopia. It has linked the resumption of assistance to several factors related to the Tigray crisis.

The Tigray crisis erupted in November 2020, when the TPLF ruling the Tigray region attacked the Northern Command of the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) in the regional capital, Mekele. In retaliation, the Ethiopian government led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched an offensive against the TPLF.

In a three-week military operation, the TPLF lost control of the Tigray region except for small pockets from which it is controlling low-level insurgency. Most of the key civilian and military leaders of TPLF were killed and captured. However, some leading fugitive leaders are still at large.

Humanitarian crises

International organizations say the fighting has caused a humanitarian crisis leaving millions of people displaced. The Ethiopian government says that it was responding to international demands and exercising its legal obligations towards its citizens, claiming that it had provided local and international aid agencies unfettered access to the region.

According to official spokespersons, some 3 million people have been provided food and other aid. They said that 70% of the assistance was covered by the Ethiopian government.

On the demands to conduct an independent investigation into rights violations, the government said that it has agreed to conduct a joint investigation including Ethiopian Human Rights Commission and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Further, the Eritrean troops, who were fighting on the side of Ethiopian forces in the region have also started withdrawing, according to the government.

The G7 ministers called on establishing a clear inclusive political process that is acceptable to all Ethiopians, including those in Tigray, and which leads to credible elections and a wider national reconciliation process.

Referring to this statement, Endale said the G7 has laid bare its hidden motives

“They are working to bring the outlawed TPLF into the political equation and form a new subservient government,” he said.

He added that neither the government nor the public will allow the TPLF to be part of the “inclusive political process’’ and part of the new government.

“The nonstarter position of the west can embolden TPLF and other insurgents to continue with their subversive acts, weaken the federal government and derail the country’s reform and consequently destabilize Ethiopia,” said Endale.

West wants submissive Ethiopia

He added that the West wants a submissive Ethiopia to demonstrate its power in Africa.

Wuhibegzer said the changing world order that had created multiple global forces competing for the influence is one of the factors that had led to the unprecedented and unrelenting pressure on Ethiopia.

“The West very well knows that world is no longer dominated by them and there are many developing nations capable of providing all types of assistance to Africans,” he said, adding that it was essential for them to assert control by finding pretexts.

“The Tigray conflict has motivated the West to exert pressure and thereby control Ethiopia that aspires and have been pursuing an independent foreign policy,” he said.

He said the US and Europe are concerned about the growing influence of China and that looks like the reason behind pressuring Ethiopia.

“Chinese direct investment (FDI) in Ethiopia had reached US$4 billion and bilateral trade had grown to $5.4 billion,” he added.

At the UNSC, Beijing vetoed the US and European resolution aimed at sanctioning and condemning Ethiopia over the Tigray crisis.

He said both countries (China and Ethiopia) were well aware of the motive and have been now upgrading their political relations by conducting a higher-level political meeting.

“The pressure is pushing Ethiopia to find trustworthy friends in the form of China, Russia, and other developing nations. Africa must embrace the new world order and resist humiliating western demands,” said Wuhibegzer.

ዐብይ አህመድ በርግጠኝነት መንፈስ ይህን ዓይነት ሰቅጣጭ ዛቻ ሊዝት የሚችለው ደግሞ፣ በቀጥታ የሚያዘውና ትዛዙን ለመቀበል በተጠንቀቅ የሚጠባበቅ፣ እረድ ያለውን ሁሉ ለማረድ ቅንጣት የማያቅማማ ተወርዋሪ አራጅ ሠራዊት አዘጋጅቶ ካስቀመጠ ብቻና ብቻ ነው፡፡  የቅርብ ክስተቶች (በተለይም ደግሞ ያጣየው ጭፍጨፋ) በማያሻማ ሁኔታ እንዳረጋገጡት ደግሞ፣ ይህ የዐብይ አሕመድ ተወርዋሪ አራጅ ሠራዊት ሌላ ማንም ሳይሆን፣ ራሱ ዐብይ አሕመድ ኦነግ ሸኔ የሚለው፣ የራሱ የዐብይ አሕመድ ክብርዘብ (republican guard) የታጠቀውን ዘመናዊ መሣርያ እንዲታጠቅ ያደረገው አራጅ ሠራዊት ነው፡፡

የዐብይ አሕመድ ኦነግ ሸኔ ሚና ከኤዶልፍ ሂትለር (Adolf Hitler) ኤስ ኤስ (Shutzstaffel, SS) ሚና ጋር ተመሳሳይ ነው፡፡  ዐብይ አሕመድ ኦነግ ሸኔን ፈጥሮ የሚጠቀመበት፣ ኤዶልፍ ሂትለር ኤስ ኤስን ፈጥሮ ይጠቀምበት በነበረው መንገድ ነው፡፡

ኤዶልፍ ሂትለር ታላላቅ የጀርመን ጦር መሪወችን በተለያዩ ምክኒያቶች ገድሎ፣ አባሮና በጡረታ አሰናብቶ፣ በምትካቸው ዊሊያም ካይትልን (Wilhelm Keitel) የመሳሰሉ፣ በናዚ አስተሳሰብ የሰከሩ፣ ሲጠራቸው አቤት፣ ሲልካቸው ወዴት የሚሉ አሸርጋጆችን (yes men) በመሾም፣ የጀርመንን መከላከያ ሠራዊት (Wehrmacht) የናዚን የመስፋፋት አጀንዳ  የሚያስፈጽም የናዚ ሠራዊት አደረገው፡፡  በሌላ በኩል ደግሞ የጀርመን ሕዝብ ሰጥ ለጥ ብሎ እንዲገዛለት ሽበር ለመልቀቅ፣ ጀርመናዊ ተቃዋሚወቹን ለመረሸንና፣ ይሁዳወችን በይሁዳነታቸው ብቻ ለመጨፍጨፍ ባረመኔነቱ ወደር የሌለውን ኤስ ኤስ የተሰኘውን ኢመደበኛ ሠራዊት (paramilitary force) መሠረተ፡፡

ኦነጋዊው ኦቦ ዐብይ አሕመድ ደግሞ ጀነራል ሰዓረን በማስገደል እሱ ራሱ ጠቅላይ አዛዥ በሆነበት በኢትዮጵያ መከላከያ ሠራዊት ላይ ብርሃኑ ጁላን ኢታማዦር ሹም፣ ቀንዓ ያደታን መከላከያ ሚኒስትር፣ ይልማ መርዳሳን አየር ኃይል አዛዥ በማድረግ ከሞላ ጎደል ሙሉ በሙሉ በኦነጋውያን ቁጥጥር ሥር አውሎ፣ የኢትዮጵያን መከላከያ ሠራዊት የኦሮሙማን የመስፋፋት አጀንዳ የሚያስፈጽም የኦሮሙማ መደበኛ ሠራዊት አድርጎታል፡፡  ይህ የኦሮሙማ መደበኛ ሠራዊት የኦሮሙማን የመስፋፋት አጀንዳ የሚያስፈጽመው ደግሞ ኦነግ ሸኔ ከሚባለው በዐብይ አህመድ በቀጥታ ከሚታዘዘው የኦሮሙማ ኢመደበኛ ሠራዊት ጋር እየተቀናበረ የተለያዩ ዘዴወችን በመጠቀም ነው፡፡  ዋና ዋናወቹ ዘዴወች ደግሞ የሚከተሉት ሦስቱ ናቸው፡፡

አንደኛው ዘዴ የሚያገለግለው የኦሮሙማን አጀንዳ በጽኑ የሚቃወሙትን፣ ባንኮችን አላስዘርፍ፣ ጌድኦወችን አላፈናቅል፣ አማሮችን አላሳርድ የሚሉትን አገር ወዳድ ኦሮሞወችን ለማስወገድ ነው፡፡  በዚህ ዘዴ መሠረት አገር ወዳድ ኦሮሞወች ባውራ ጎዳና ላይ በጠራራ ፀሐይ እየተረሸኑ፣ ለሌሎች አገር ወዳድ ኦሮሞወች መቀጣጫ እንዲሆኑ ይደረጋል፡፡  አያሌ ኦሮሞወች በተለያዩ የወለጋ ከተሞች ውስጥ ባደባባይ የተረሸኑት በዚህ ዘዴ መሠረት ነው፡፡

ሁለተኛው ዘዴ የሚያገለግለው ኦሮምያ የሚባለውን ክልል ካማሮች ለማጽዳት ነው፡፡  በዚህ ዘዴ መሠረት የኦሮሙማ መደበኛ ሠራዊት አማሮች በብዛት በሚገኙባቸው ቀበሌወች ገብቶ በመስፈር አማሮች መከላከያ አለልን ብለው እንዲዘናጉ ካደረጋቸው በኋላ፣ በድንገት ለቆ ይወጣል፡፡  እሱ በድንገት ለቆ ሲወጣ ደግሞ የኦሮሙማ ኢመደበኛ ሠራዊት (ማለትም ኦነግ ሸኔ) እግር በግር ተከትሎ ይገባና የተዘናጉትን አማሮች ሴት፣ ወንድ፣ ሕፃን፣ አረጋዊ ሳይል በገጀራ ይቆራርጣቸዋል፡፡  የተጨፈጨፉት ይጨፈጨፉና ሸሽተው ጫካ የገቡት ደግሞ በረሐብ ያልቃሉ፡፡  ባቅራቢያ የሚገኙ አማሮች ደግሞ በጭፍጨፋው ዘግናኝነት በመሸበር ማቄን፣ ጨርቄን ሳይሉ ጣጥለው ይጠፋሉ፡፡ ቀበሌውና አቅራቢያወቹም ካማራ ይጸዳሉ፡፡

ሦስተኛው ዘዴ የሚያገለግለው በሌሎቹ ክልሎች ውስጥ የሚገኙ መሬቶችን ወደ ኦሮምያ ለማጠቃለል ነው፡፡  በዚህ ዘዴ መሠረት አነግ ሸኔ (መከላከያ ከጀርባው ሁኖ በከባድ መሣርያ ከፍተኛ እገዛ እያደረገለት) ወደተወሰነ ቀጠና በተደጋጋሚ እየገባ ጅምላ ጭፍጨፋ እያካሄደ ከፍተኛ መፈናቀልን ያስከትላል፡፡  ዐብይ አህመድ ደግሞ ጭፍጨፋውና መፈናቀሉን ሰበብ አድርጎ በኦነጋዊ ጀነራል የሚመራ ኦነጋዊ ኮማንድ ፖስት ያቋቁምና፣ የቀጠናውን አስተዳደር ሙሉ በሙሉ በኦነጋውያን ቁጥጥር ሥር ያደርገዋል፡፡  በቀጠናው ውስጥ የተቋቋመው ኦነጋዊ ኮማንድ ፖስትና ኦነጋዊ አስተዳደር ደግሞ ከጭፍጨፋውና ከመፈናቀሉ የተረፉትን አማሮች በሽብርተኝነትና በሌሎች ምክኒያቶች እየነቀለ በምትካቸው ኦሮሞወችን በመትከል የሕዝብ አሰፋፈርን ቀይሮ ቀጠናውን የኦሮምያ አካል ያደርገዋል፡፡  በመተከል የተከናወነው ይሄው ነው፡፡  በሰሜን ሸዋ የተቋቋመው በቀንደኛው ኦነጋዊ በጌታቸው ጉዲና የሚመራው ኦነጋዊ ኮፓንድ ፖስት ደግሞ ብቸኛ ዓላማው ሰሜን ሸዋን ሰሜን ኦሮምያ ማድረግ ነው፡፡

ሂትለር ኤሰ ኤስን የመሠረተው፣ ውድቀታቸውን ሁሉ በይሁዳወች እያሳበቡ በይሁዳ ጥላቻ የተመረዙ እርነስት ሮምን (Ernst Rohm) የመሳሰሉ ውድቀታም (loser) ወታደሮችን በማሰባሰብ ነበር፡፡  ዐብይ አህመድ ደግሞ የኦነግ ሸኔን አስኳል ሊፈጥር የሚችለው፣ በኤርትራ በርሓ የሚሰቃዩትን ስቃይ በፀራማራ ትርክት እንዲያስታግሱ ይደረጉ ከነበሩት፣ ትጥቃቸውን ሳይፈቱ እንዲገቡ ካደረጋቸው የኦነግ ወታደሮች ውስጥ ይበልጥ ጽንፈኛ የሆኑትን በመምረጥ ነው፡፡

የይሁዳ ዋና ጠላት ናዚው ሂትለር እንደነበር ሁሉ፣ ያማራ ዋና ጠላት ኦነጉ ዐብይ አሕመድ ነው፡፡  ኦቦ ዐብይ አሕመድ የጭቆናን ምንነት በቅጡ ሊረዳ በማይችልበት ለጋ እድሜው “ያማራ ጨቋኞችን” ለመታገል ጫካ ገብቶ የወያኔን ጡት እየጠባ ባማራ ጥላቻ ተመርዞና ተሰቅዞ ያደገ፣ ለስልጣን ያበቃውን ብአዴንን እንደ መጋዣ እየጋለበ አማራን በመረጋገጥ የሚጨፈላልቅ የኦሮሙማ መለስ ዜናዊ ነው፡፡  የፀረኦሮሙማ ትግል ዋና ዒላማ መሆን ያለበትም ይሄው ዐብይ አሕመድ ነው፣ የወያኔ ሞተር መለስ ዜናዊ እንደነበር፣ የኦሮሙማ ሞተር ዐብይ አሕመድ ነውና፡፡  መለስ ዜናዊ ያደርገው እንደነበረው፣ ብአዴንን በድን አድርጎ አማራን ማድበን የሚችል ኦነጋዊ አንድ ብቻ ሲሆን፣ እሱም በማኪያቬሊ (Machiavelli) ሤራ የተካነው፣ ሲዞሩበት እየትጥመለመለ ሲዞሩለት የሚናደፈው እፉኝቱ ዐብይ አሕመድ ነው፡፡  መለስ ዜናዊ ሲሄድ ወያኔ እንደተጠራረገ፣ ዐበይ አሕመድም ሲሄድ ኦሮሙማ ይጠራረጋል፡፡
