“ያጋጠመንን ፈተና የምንሻገረው እውነተኛ ሕዝባዊነታችን ጠብቀን በመዝለቅ ነው” የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ

ፓርቲው በወቅታዊ ጉዳይ ላይ የሰጠው ሙሉ መግለጫ ቀጥሎ ይቀርባል።

አገራችን ኢትዮጵያ በለውጥ ሂደት ውስጥ ምትገኝ አገር ናት፡፡ በለውጡ ተስፋ ሰጭ ውጤቶች መመዘግብ የጀመሩበት ኢትዮጵያውን በአጠቃላይ እና በተለይም የአማራ ህዝብ ለውጡን ደግፈው የቆሙበት ሁኔታ እንደነበር የሚታወስ ነው፡፡ ለለውጡ መቀስቀስ ምክንያት የሆኑ ህዝባዊ ጥያቄዎች በተለይም የዴሞክራሲ ምህዳሩን የማስፋት፣ የወሰንና የማንነት ጥያቄዎች፣ የኢኮኖሚ ልማት ጥያቄዎችን ለመመለስ የሚያስችል እርምጃዎችና የተካሄዱ ሪፎርሞች፣ የማህበራዊ ልማት ማሻሻያዎች፣ የሰብአዊ መብት አያያዝ ችግሮችን የመለየትና የማረም፣ የፀጥታ የፍትህና የደህንነት ተቋማት፣ የዴሞክራሲ ተቋማት፣ የህግ ሪፎርሞች፣ የትላልቅ አገራዊ ሜጋ ፕሮጀክቶች ችግር ተፈቶ ወደ ሥራ ማስገባቱ፣ የውጭ ግንኙነት ፖሊሲ ለውጥ…..ወዘተ የለውጡ አበይት ትሩፋቶች የታዩባቸው ዘርፎች ናቸው፡፡

ይሁንም እንጂ እነዚህ ተስፋዎች በተግዳሮች የተሞሉ ሆነው እናገኛቸዋለን፡፡ እነዚህ ተግዳሮቶች ውስጣዊና ውጫዊ ይዘትና ባህሪ ያላቸው ናቸው፡፡ አገራዊ ቀውሱን በማባባስ የተለያዩ የውጭ ኃይሎች እጅ ያለበት ቢሆንም ዋናው ግን የውስጥ ችግራችን ነው፡፡ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ውስጥ መታረም ያለባቸው ውስጣዊ ችግሮች እንደተጠበቁ ሁነው የችግሮቻችን ሁሉ የመጀመያው የትህነግ የክህደት ቡድን ሀገረ-መንግሥቱን የማፈረስ የጥፋት ሚና ሲሆን፤ ቀጥለው የሚመጡት ኦነግ ሸኔ፣ የጉምዝ ታጣቂ ኃይልና በተከበረው የቅማንት ሕዝብ ስም የሚነግደው ቅጥረኛው ታጣቂ የሽፍታ ቡድን የችግሮቻችን ምንጭና የጥፋት ዘር የሚዘሩ ዋና የአገርና የህዝብ ጠላቶች ናቸው፡፡ በእነዚህ ጸረ-ሕዝብ ኃይሎችና ተባባሪዎቻቸው በአገራችን የተለያዩ አካባቢዎች በተለይም በኦሮሚያ ክልል በወለጋ ዞኖች፣ በቤንሻንጉል ጉምዝ ክልል በመተከል ዞን፣ በአማራ ክልል በኦሮሞ ብሄረሰብ ዞንና ሰ/ሸዋ፣ በማዕከላዊ ጎንደር በጭልጋ የተከሰቱ ዘርን መሠረት ያደረጉ ጥቃቶች የወገኖቻችን ሞትና የንብረት መውደም ያስከተሉ እጅግ ልብ የሚሰብር፣ ሰው በሆነ ፍጡር ሁሉ ሊደርስ የማይገባው ዘግናኝ አረመኒያዊ ድርጊት ተፈፅሟል፡፡

የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ችግሩን ማውገዝ ብቻ ሣይሆን እስከመጨረሻው የሚታገለው በዘር ጥላቻ የመታወር የመርዘኛ አስተሳሰብ ድርጊትና ውጤት ነው ብሎ ያምናል፡፡ በዚህ አጋጣሚ በማንነታቸው በግፍ ለተጨፈጨፉና ለሞቱ ቤተሰቦች፣ የተፈጠረውን ችግር ለማስቆም መስዕዋትነት ለከፈሉ የፌደራልና የክልላችን የፀጥታ ኃይሎች ከልብ የመነጨ መፅናናትን እንመኛለን፡፡ አሁንም የአማራን ክልል ህዝብ ሰላምና ደህንነት ለማስጠበቅ በየግንባሩ የተሰለፋችሁ የፌዴራልና የክልላችን የፀጥታ ሀይሎች ለምታደርጉት ሀላፊነት የተሞላበት ተጋድሎ የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ከፍተኛ አድናቆትና ምስጋና ያቀርብላችኋል፡፡

የአማራ ህዝብ ባለበት ወይም በሚኖርባቸው የተለያዩ ክልሎች ሁሉ ከሌሎች ወንድም ህዝቦች ጋር በሰላምና በፍቅር እንዲኖር ተመሳሳይ አስተዋፅኦ ለምታደርጉ አካላትም ላቅ ያለ ምስጋናችንን እያቀረብን ይህንን መልካም ተግባር አጠናክራችሁ እንድትቀጥሉና የወንድማማች ህዝቦችን ሰላምና ደህንነት እንድታስጠብቁ ጥሪያችንን እናስተላልፋለን፡፡

የጥፋት ኃይሎች በአንድ በኩል ዘርን መሠረት አድርገው የሚደርሱ ጥፋቶችን የብሄር መልክ እንዲይዝ ሲያደርጉ ሌላ ጊዜ ደግሞ የሃይማኖት ገፅታ እንዲኖረው በማድረግ የጥፋት አጀንዳቸውን ማባሪያ እንዳይኖረው በተለዋዋጭ አጀንዳዎች ቀወስ ሲያቀጣጥሉ ይታያሉ፡፡
ይህ እውነታ እንደተጠበቀ ሆኖ በቅርቡና ሰሞኑን በምዕራብ ወለጋ፣ በመተከል፣ በአጣዬና አካባቢው የተፈጠሩ ማንነት ተኮር ጥቃቶችና ይህን ተከትሎ በወገኖቻችን ላይ የደረሰው የሞት፣ ሀብትና ንብረት መውደም መፈናቀል የአማራን ህዝብ በእጅጉ አሳዝኗል፡፡

የአማራው ሞትና መፈናቀል መልኩን እየቀያየረ በመቀጠሉ በህዝቡ ዘንድ ቁጭትና ብስጭትን ፈጥሯል፡፡ ይህን ሁኔታ በመጠቀም ምንጩ የሚታወቅና የማይታወቅ የፌስቡክና ሌሎች የማህበራዊ ሚዲያ አውታሮችን በመጠቀም እርስ በእርሳችን እንድንተላለቅ የጦርነት ድግስ የሚደግሱና እርስ በርሳቸው የሚገፋፉ መልዕክቶችንና ምስሎችን በማህበራዊ ሚዲያ በመለጠፍ ችግሩ እንዲባባስ ለማድረግ ሲሰሩ ይታያል፡፡ ሌሎች ደግሞ የብሄርና የሃይማኖት ፅንፍ በመስበክ ችግሩን ከድጡ ወደ ማጡ ለመውሰድ የቀውስ አጀንዳዎችን ሲያቀጣጥሉ ይስተዋላሉ፡፡

ይህን ተከትሎ በአማራ ክልል በአንዳንድ ከተሞች የተፈፀመውን የግፍ ጭፍጨፋ፣ የሰው ሞት፣ የንብረት መውደምና መፈናቀል ለማውገዝ እና መንግስት አስቸኳይ እርምጃ በመውሰድ እንዲያስተካክል ለመጠየቅ ሰላማዊ ሰልፎች ተካሂደዋል፡፡

በሰለጠነና ጨዋነትን በተላበስ መንገድ የደረሱ ጉዳቶችንና ጥፋቶችን ደግመው እንዳይከሰቱ ማውገዝና መንግስትን የማስተካከያ እርምጃ እንዲወስድ መጠየቅ የዴሞክራሲያዊነትና ጤናማ አስተሳሰብ ያላቸው ዜጐች መገለጫ ነው፡፡

ፓርቲያችን ብልፅግና እነዚህ ጥያቄዎች ተገቢና ተቀባይነት አላቸው ብሎ ያምናል፡፡ ማመን ብቻ ሳይሆን የአማራ ህዝብ ሞትና መፈናቀል በዘላቂነት እንዲቆም ይታገላል፤ በተጨባጭም የፖለቲካና የጸጥታ ስራዎችን ሌትና ቀን እየሰራ ይገኛል፡፡ በዚህ መንፈስና ስሜት ለተሣተፉና ሰልፉ ሰላማዊ ሁኖ እንዲጠናቀቅ ለጸጥታ ኃይሉ ተደማሪ ጉልበት የሆኑ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎችን የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ክብር አለው፡፡

በሌላ በኩል የተካሄዱት ሁሉም ሰልፎች ለጥፋት ኃይሎችና የመጠፋፋት ነጋሪት ለሚጎስሙ አካላት እንዳቀዱትና ሊፈጥሩት ካሰቡት ጥፋት አኳያ መጠቀሚያ ከመሆን ወጦ በሰላማዊ መንገድ ወደ ቤቱ እንዲመለስ መደረጉ የሚያስመሰግን ነው፡፡ የጸጥታ ኃይላችን ሕዝባዊነትም ከለውጡ ወዲህ መገንባት ስለጀመረው ነጻና ገለልተኛ ተቋም ማሳያ ሆኖ የሚጠቀስ ነው፡፡ ለዚህም ሰልፉ ከጅምሩ እስከ መጨራሻው ሠላማዊ ሆኖ እንዲጠናቀቅ ላደረጋችሁ የክልላችን የፀጥታ ኃይል አባላት የአማራ ብልፅግና ፓርቲ ምስጋናና አክብሮት ያቀርብላችኋል፡፡
ይሁንም እንጂ የተካሄዱ ሰልፎች ምንም እንኳ በሰላም ተጠናቀቁ ይባል እንጅ በአንዳንድ ከተሞች ከተጠሩበት ሕዝባዊ ዓላማ ውጭ ሆነው አግኝተናቸዋል፡፡ የአማራ ብልፅግና ፓርቲ ምርጫው በሰላማዊና ዴሞከራሲያዊ ሆኖ እንዲጠናቀቅ ስራ ላይ ባለበት በተቃራኒው ዓላማ ተይዞ የተካሄደ በመሆኑ ጉዳዩን አሳሳቢ ያደርገዋል፡፡

የሰልፎቹ አላማ ከላይ የተገለፀው ሕዝባዊ አጀንዳ ሆኖ ሳለ በጽንፈኛ ኃይሎች ተጠልፎ የእነሱ ተልዕኮና የፖለቲካ አጀንዳ ማስፈፀሚያ ለማድረግ ሙከራ አድርገዋል፡፡

ምንም እንኳ እነዚህ በሰልፉ የተሳተፉና ከሰልፉ አላማ ውጭ ሲንቀሳቀሱ የተስተዋሉ አካላት/ቡድኖች የአማራ ክልል ህዝብን የሚወክሉ ባይሆኑም ህዝብን ከህዝብ የሚያጋጩ፣ ፊት የሚያዟዙሩ፣ ጥላቻና መጠራጠርን የሚያሰፉ አሳፋሪ ኩነቶችን ሲያከናውኑ ተስተውለዋል፡፡

የአማራና የኦሮሞ ህዝብ ለዘመናት በአብሮነት የኖሩ የማይለያዩ ትስስር ያላቸው በደምና በአጥንት የተጋመዱ ህዝቦች ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህ ህዝቦች በመከራም ሆነ በደስታ አብረው ያሳለፉ፣ ረዥሙ የኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ሲመዘዝ ከአንድ ምንጭ የሚቀዱ ህዝቦች ናቸው፡፡ እነዚህ ህዝቦች ከሌሎች የኢትዮጵያ ብሄር ብሔረሰቦች ጋር አገር ያቆሙ፣ የውጭ ወራሪ ኃይልን በጋራ መስዋዕትነታቸው መመከት የቻሉ ህዝቦች ናቸው፡፡ በዚህ ሂደትም በታሪክ ዳገትና ቁልቁለት አብረው ወጥተዋል አብረው ወርደዋል፡፡ የወደፊቱ እጣፈንታቸውም በአብሮነትና በወንድማማችነት መቀጠል አለበት ብለው በፅኑ የሚያምኑ የአገር ዋልታና ማገር የሆኑ ህዝቦች ናቸው፡፡

በሰልፉ የደም ነጋዴዎች እንዳሉት አንዳችን ሌላችን ልናጠፋ ከቶውንም ጤናማ በሆነ አዕምሮ ሊታሰብ የማይችል ተርት ተረት ሲናገሩ አዳምጠናል፡፡ የተራመደው አፀያፊ ሀሳብ ህዝባችንን የማይወክል መሆኑ ብቻ ሳይሆን የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲና መላው ህዝባችን በፅናት ቁመን የምናወግዘውና የምንታገለው እኩይ አስተሳሰብ ነው፡፡ የአማራና የኦሮሞ ህዝቦች በፅናት አብረው ይዘልቃሉ፣ አገርንም ያሻግራሉ፡፡ ትላንት አብረው በመቆም የውጭ ወራሪ ኃይሎችን እንደመከቱት ሁሉ ዛሬም ሆነ ነገ የጋራ ዕጣ ፈንታችውን አብረው ይወስናሉ::

ሌላው በዚህ ሰልፍ የታየው አፍራሽ እንቅስቃሴ ፓርቲያችን ብልጽግናን በማውገዝ ላይ የተመሰረተ የአማራን ክልል የሁከትና የብጥብጥ ማእከል በማድረግ ቀጥተኛ ተጠቂና ህዝባችን ለአደጋ ተጋላጭ እንዲሆን የሚያደርግ ነው፡፡ ይህ ድርጊት የአማራ ህዝብ ያለበትን የፀጥታና የፖለቲካ ሁኔታ ያላገናዘበና ይልቁንም ለከፋ ሁኔታ የሚዳርግ የተሳሳተ መንገድ ሆኖ ይታያል፡፡

እርግጥ ነው በሀሳብ የተገነባውን የብልጽግና ፓርቲ በአደባባይ ውግዘት ዝቅ ማድረግ እንደማይቻል እነሱም ጠንቅቀው ያውቁታል፡፡ አማራን ያለወንድማማችነት ፖለቲካ ነጥለው መንዳት የሚፈልጉ ፅንፈኛ ሀይሎች በሀሳብ ሞግተው ማሸነፍ እንደማይችሉ በመረዳታቸው ብቸኛ አማራጫቸው ከዚህ ያለፈ ሊሆን አይችልም፡፡

ብልጽግና ፀረ-ኢትዮጵያና ፀረ-አማራ የሆነውን ጠላት ትህነግን ለአንዴና ለመጨረሻ ወደ መቃብር እንዲወርድ ያደረገ፣ የተዘረፍነውን ማንነታችንና ነፃነታችን መልሶ ያጎናፀፈንና አንገታችን ቀና እንድንል ያደረገ በፈተናዎች መካከል ትርጉም ያለው ድል የሚያስመዘግብ ተራማጅ የሆነ ኢትዮጵያዊ የፖለቲካ ፓርቲ ሲሆን የአማራ ህዝብም የሚያውቀው ሀቅ ነው፡፡ ይህ የታየው ውንጀላ በጥቂት ለአማራ ህዝብ የሚታገሉ የሚመስሉ ነገር ግን የአማራን ህዝብ ማህበራዊ ዕሴቶች በማይወክሉ ጠላቶቻችን ታስቦ የተነገረ እርባና ቢስ ድርጊት ነው፡፡ የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ በአማራ ህዝብ ዘንድ በፅኑ መሠረት ላይ እንዲቆም የምንሰራ ብቻ ሳይሆን ፀረ-ብልጽግና ኃይሎችን ፊት ለፊት በፅናት እንፋለማቸዋልን፡፡

ከሰልፉ አላማ ውጭ የተነሳው ሌላው ጉዳይ ከፌዴራል እስከ ክልል በሚገኘው አመራራችን ላይ የደረሰው የውግዘት፣ የማጥላላትና ስም የማጥፋት ዘመቻ ነው፡፡ የአማራ ህዝብ መሪውን አክባሪ የተከበረና የዳበረ ማህበራዊ፣ ባህላዊና ሃይማኖታዊ እሴቶች ያሉት ወረተ-ብዙ ህዝብ ነው፡፡ ከምንም በላይ ደግሞ መከባበር ሲወርድ ሲዋረድ የኖረና አሁንም ያለ ማህበራዊ እሴቱ ነው፡፡ ነገር ግን ከዚህ ወርቃማ እሴት ባፈነገጠ መንገድ ጥቂት ግብረ-ገብነት የጎደላቸው በጥላቻ የሰከሩ ግለሰቦች ከፓርቲያችን ፕሬዝዳንት ጀምሮ በየደረጃው የሚገኙ አመራሮችን በስም በመጥራት፣ ማውገዝ፣ አልፎ ተርፎም በገዳይ አስገዳይ በመፈረጅ በድፍረት ተናግረዋል፡፡ ይህ የብልጽግናን አመራር ከአማራ ህዝብ ለመነጠል ለማስጠላት የተደረገ ሴራ የወለደው ግልፅ ጥቃት ነው፡፡ ነገር ግን የአማራ ህዝብ ብልህና አስተዋይ ህዝብ ነው፡፡ ከቶውንም ሊቀበላቸው ቀርቶ ሊያዳምጣቸውም አይፈቅድም፡፡ ይልቁንስ ድርጊታቸውን በትዝብት የተመለከተና ቆም ብሎ እየሆነ ስላለው ነገር እንዲያስተውል አድርጐታል፡፡ አብዛኛው ሰውም ድርጊቱን በግልፅ ነቅፎታል፡፡ በአንፃሩ ደግሞ እኛ የብልጽግና አመራሮች ይህ ሁኔታ ለሕዝባችን ተጠቃሚነት ስንል የበለጠ የሚያጠነክረን እንጂ ከቶውንም ከእርምጃችን አንድ ስንዝር ወደኋላ ሊመልሰን አይችልም፡፡ በተለመደው የፅናትና የአሸናፊነት ወኔ ትግላችን አጠናክረን የብልጽግና ጉዟችን እንደምንቀጥል የአማራ ብልፅግና ፓርቲ ያረጋግጣል፡፡

በሰልፉ ላይ የህዝቡን እውነተኛና ፍትሀዋ ጥያቄ ጠልፈው ለፖለቲካ ዓላማቸው ሊጠቀሙበት ያሰቡ ኃይሎች እነማን እንደሆኑ በድርጊቱ ራሳቸውን አጋልጠዋል፡፡ የሰልፉ ታዳሚ ጥቂት ግለሰቦች ከላይ ከተገለፁት እኩይ ተግባራት በተጨማሪ ከአብን በስተቀር የብልጽግና ፓርቲ እና የሌሎች ተፎካካሪ ፓርቲዎች የምርጫ ምልክትና ባነሮች ከተሰቀሉበት ቢልቦርድ ወርደው እንዲቃጠሉና እንዲቀደዱ ተደርጓል፡፡ በአንዳንድ አካባቢዎች የምርጫ አሰፈፃሚዎች ተረጋግተው ስራቸውን እንዳይሰሩ ወከባ ሲፈጥሩ የዋሉም አሉ፡፡ይህም የህዝቡን እውነተኛና ፍትሀዊ ጥያቄ ጠልፎ ለራሱ ስግብግበ አላማ በሚያመች መልኩ ስልፉን ሲያስታባርና ሲመራ የዋለው አካል ማን አንደሆነ በግልፅ የታየበት ነው፡፡ ይህ ብቻ ሳይሆን በሰልፉ የተላለፉ መልዕክቶች የማን ፍላጐትና ዓላማ እንደሆነ ጭምር በይፋ የተመለከትንበት ነው፡፡

ድርጅታችን ብልጽግና ይህ ድርጊት ፍፁም ህገ-ወጥ፤ ፍፁም ወንጀል ነው ብሎ ያምናል፡፡ በመሆኑም የምርጫ ቦርድና ሌሎች የህግ አስከባሪ አካላት ጉዳዩን አጣርተው ህጋዊ እርምጃ እንዲወሰዱ ጥሪያችን እናቀርባለን፡፡ በአጠቃላይ የተፈፀሙ ድርጊቶች የተከበረውን የአማራ ህዝብ አንሶ ማሳነስ የታየበት ያላዋቂዎች ጨዋታ ሆኖ አግኝተዋል፡፡

በመጨረሻም የአማራ ብልጽግና ፓርቲ ሕዝባችን ያነሳቸውን ፍትሀዊ ጥያቄዎች ይቀበላል፤ ነገር ግን አጀንዳውን ለራሳቸው የፖለቲካ ዓላማ ጠልፈው እየተጠቀሙበት ያሉ ኃይሎች የጥፋት መንገድ በእጅጉ ያሳሰበዋል፡፡ ፓርቲያችን ይህን እኩይ ተግባር ከመላው የአማራ ህዝብና ከሌሎች አገርና ህዝብ ወዳድ ከሆኑ የፖለቲካ ኃይሎች ጋር በጋራ በመታገል አገርና ህዝብን ከጥፋት ለመታደግ ዝግጁ መሆናችን ደግመን ደጋግመን ለመላው የክልላችንና የኢትዮጵያ ህዝብ እናረጋግጣለን፡፡

በመጨረሻም በአማራ ህዝብ ሞትና መፈናቀል እጃቸው ያለበትን ማናቸውንም የጥፋት ሀይሎች ለህግ ለማቅረብና አስፈላጊውን እርምጃ ለመውሰድ ቁርጠኛ መሆናችንን ለህዝባችን ለማረጋገጥ እንወዳለን፡፡

የወቅቱን ፈተና እንረዳለንና ያጋጠመንን ፈተና የምንሻገረው እውነተኛ ህዝባዊነታችን ጠብቀን በመዝለቅ ነው!!!

Some Ethiopians seem to be on the wrong side of an Egyptian proxy war against their own country. As ethnic-based killing and violence explodes in Ethiopia, the country has become a place where gruesome crimes against other human beings are committed with little remorse or accountability. It could trigger more massive killings, even genocide.

It is the responsibility of those who value every human life and the national unity of Ethiopia to do something about it. For years, Egypt has been attacking Ethiopian national unity by stoking the fires of division. It is finding fertile ground among ethno-nationalists, but is also strongly reinforced by Ethiopia’s governmental model of ethnic federalism and our ethnic-based Constitution, which could also be called institutionalized tribalism.

We, the people of Ethiopia, have a choice to say no; however, instead, some among us are fanning the flames of ethnic-based hatred, the desire for ethnic-based vengeance for crimes past and present and the dehumanization of others, based on identity. Never before have we seen such a widespread movement of ethnic-based hatred and violence as is now sweeping across the country. If it continues, we exponentially increase the risk of losing the whole country to anarchy and violence, played out against each other, our fellow-citizens.

No single ethnic group will win if our country breaks apart, like Yugoslavia. If we participate in the destruction, or do not try to rise above it, or if we fail to warn others of the danger, who can we blame but ourselves? Those of us who care about living in peace and greater prosperity with each other, must get involved; however, as fear increases, many are giving up hope of national unity and; and instead, are returning to their ethnic-based  communities as they are put on the defensive.

It is important to consider what is behind all of this and how we can resist falling into the trap that will defeat us all. We are not simply looking at Ethiopians, but we must look beyond our borders to be more fully aware of external forces directed against us and our peace. Egypt is one of these external forces, and has been for years, even now openly speaking out about it

What does Egypt want?

1)  Control of the Nile

Egypt wants complete control of the Nile. As mentioned, this is not new to us, but has been openly articulated by Egyptian President Morsi; and now by President al-Sisi, who recently warned reporters at a press conference on March 29, 2021, in response to the dispute with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and Egypt’s water rights, threatening the following:

“Nobody will be permitted to take a single drop of Egypt’s water, otherwise the region will fall into unimaginable instability,”….

“If it happens, there will be inconceivable instability in the region that no one could imagine,”…

“A compromise to Egypt’s water share is a red line, and our response [if our water share is affected] will affect the stability of the whole region,” …

“Hostile action is ugly and has significant repercussions that could last for years, because nations do not forget,”

Morsi had also made grim threats to Ethiopia while history documents the clear exclusion of Ethiopia from any previous decision-making in regard to the use of Nile waters, despite the fact that 85% of the water originates in Ethiopia. The last agreement divided the water between Egypt, who was given 66% of the allocation, and the Sudan, who was given 22%, with the rest to evaporation. Ethiopia received no allotment.

The GERD is anticipated to provide 6,200 megawatts of hydroelectric power to a region lacking it.  Approximately 60% of Ethiopians do not have electricity, while 99% of Egyptians are said to have it due to hydroelectric dams in Egypt, on the Nile River. Now, the argument centers on the speed of filling the dam, as well Egypt demanding a binding legal agreement that guarantees Egypt control over the flow. Experts have indicated that the hydroelectric dam will not have a significant impact on the flow of water to Egypt.

What President al-Sisi must not understand is that Ethiopia does not receive a single drop of water from Egypt. Instead, it is actually Ethiopia that could have made these kinds of unwise and irresponsible statements; however, Ethiopia has chosen not to do so because in this global society, we must find ways to share resources and to work together for the common good, especially with our regional neighbors.

2)  Control of the Red Sea Shipping Lane

The second goal of Egypt has been to maintain control of the Red Sea. The Red Sea may be one of the most important sea lanes in the world. Prior to the former regime, Ethiopia had a navy with access to the Red Sea and its ports; but now, because of the politics of ethno-nationalists and separatists, Ethiopia was made to be completely landlocked. One analyst, Gregory R. Copley comments on this in his article from June 7, 2013, Egypt’s Instability Triggers a New Proxy War Against Ethiopia and its Allies:

Egypt’s Morsi Government has initiated a return to covert war against Ethiopia, which controls the source of the Blue Nile, Egypt’s and Sudan’s principal source of water. The result will almost certainly lead to an increased level of insecurity in the strategic Red Sea/Suez sea lane and in the upper Nile riparian states, such as South Sudan, with some impact on global energy markets. Certainly it promises to see greater instability in the Horn of Africa at a time when Western media portrayals hint at a return to stability in, for example, Somalia.  

He goes on to say:

The campaign includes a major media offensive at the alleged threat, and also included the commitment of major political, intelligence, and military resources to a trenchant [incisive] reversal of Egypt’s brief period of rapprochement [efforts to bring together] with Upper Nile riparian states, particularly Ethiopia. 

This amounts to a full — even expanded — resumption of the indirect war to isolate Ethiopia politically and economically and to ensure that it cannot attract foreign investment and political support. It also attempts to ensure that Ethiopia’s main avenues for trade, through the Red Sea ports in Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somaliland, become closed to it.

At the time, he was speaking about President Morsi, but President al-Sisi’s position is obviously no different, especially in light of these recent comments about the Nile and the fact that a large percentage of income for Egypt comes from their domination of the Red Sea.

A Brainwashing Media Campaign?

For at least a decade, I have been aware of efforts on the part of Egypt to incite division between Ethiopian ethnic groups, particularly the Oromo, the Amhara and the Tigray. Even I was approached in an attempt to deepen the animosity between my own ethnic group, the Anuak, in regard to others.

One of the chief inciters was Egyptian. His name was Dr. Muhammad Shamsaddin Megalommatis, possibly a fake name and persona, who I believed had to be confronted with his grandiose efforts to spread and deepen hate and conflict among Ethiopians, but at the same time, Ethiopians had to be warned not to fall for it. This was eleven years ago.

Did you ever wonder how and why Dr. Megalommatis manages to write article after article claiming love for the Oromo—with 22 articles focused on just the Oromos in only the last month—or other “subjugated people” of Ethiopia as he labels them; while claiming deep hatred, almost exclusively directed against the Amhara, who he calls “beasts”—with 34 articles in the last month, where he viciously blasts Amhara and/or “Fake Ethiopia?” Why is he spending so much time and effort on stirring up such anger? Is he being paid for it and if so, by whom?

His was an intense media campaign that began over a decade ago with the goal of brainwashing some of the ethnic groups in Ethiopia, hoping to destabilize the country, similar to al-Sisi’s recently stated goal.  Undoubtedly, it has helped to fuel some of the fires burning across the nation now, that might achieve the goal of destabilization. To what degree has this kind of hate-mongering incited what is going on now? Sadly, it is working.

STOP IT! JUST STOP IT!

The ethnic-based killing of human beings in Ethiopia has reached such a tragic point that one feels like blocking one’s ears, closing one’s eyes and screaming out at the top of one’s voice, “STOP IT! JUST STOP IT!”

Each killing ends a human life; a life given breath, value and purpose by our Creator. Each death is of one individual person, abruptly taken away as if that one life was meaningless; yet, every human being has a name, a family, a God-given purpose and a future that now will never be realized. Those who kill have forgotten— or never understood— their real identity is as a human being— before all other identity factors— especially ethnicity.

People who commit such inhumane acts cannot be defined by ethnicity, as they do not represent many others within their identity group who vehemently condemn such acts. However, what accounts for the ethnic hatred, mob mentality and the hardening of the hearts and souls of those who commit these crimes and jeopardize our collective future?

Most of the ethnic-based violence has been in Oromia, Benishangul-Gumuz, Amhara and Tigray Region; however, in the days following the article’s release, we learned of many more killings and many thousands of more persons displaced in places like the South, Afar, and the Somali region. On April 17, a shocking videos and pictures captured the tragic killing of innocent people in the town of Ataye in North Shewa. People were targeted due to their being of Amhara ethnicity.

Those who are targeting others by ethnicity do not represent many others of their same ethnicity; yet, it has created a rush back to one’s ethnic group for “safety” due to heightened fears everywhere. With every killing, the desire for retaliation increases. This is an enormous problem in that it creates cycles of vengeance and loss.

For the last several decades, we have been seeking our freedom and rights; let it not be destroyed before our eyes. Instead, let us now join together to work out our differences and to make an effort to find enough consensus to enable us to move ahead. We must resist the temptation to fall into strongholds of lies, manipulation and exploitation by foreign forces. Let us end ethnic-based politics, which are a threat to all of us.

Let us seek the wellbeing of others, “putting humanity before ethnicity” or any other differences, and upholding the freedom and rights of all our people for not only is it right to care about our neighbors, near and far, but “no one or no one ethnic group will be free until all are free.”  

Let the conversation begin. Most importantly, may God help Ethiopians to know that whenever you kill another person, you kill a part of yourself. We are a country that desperately needs truth, healing and forgiveness. We have made many mistakes. Let us make a turn around and make it right this time. May God help us to love our neighbors, near and far!

እንዲሁም 3 ሺህ 580 የሽጉጥ፣ 200 የብሬን እና 3 ሺህ 171 የክላሽንኮቭ ጠመንጃ በድምሩ 6 ሺህ 951 ጥይቶችን መያዙን ፖሊስ አስታውቋል፡፡

ተጠርጣሪዎቹ ለዚሁ ተግባር ማስፈፀሚያ ሲጠቀሙባቸው የነበሩ 906 ሺህ 40 ብር እና 8 ሺህ 382 የአሜሪካ ዶላርም እንደያዘም ነው ያስታወቀው።

በተመሳሳይ ጁንታው በፈፀመው ጥቃት የተሳተፉና በተለያዩ መንገዶች አምልጠው ወደ አዲስ አበባ ከተማ በመግባት በወንጀል ተግባር መሳተፋቸው በህዝብ ጥቆማ የተደረሰባቸው 170 ተጠርጣሪዎችና ከዚሁ ጋር ተያያዥነት ያላቸው 53 የኦነግ ሸኔ አባላት በቁጥጥር ስር ውለው  በኢ.ፌ.ዲ.ሪ ጠቅላይ ዐቃቤ ሕግ፣ በፌዴራል ፖሊስና በአዲስ አበባ ፖሊስ ኮሚሽኖች በጥምረት ምርመራ እየተካሄደ መሆኑን ኮሚሽኑ ገልጿል።

በሌላም በኩል የተወሰኑ ግለሰቦችና ቡድኖች በከተማዋ ሁከትና ብጥብጥ ለመፍጠር  እንቅስቃሴ እያደረጉ መሆኑን ፖሊስ በመረጃ ማረጋገጡን የገለፀው ኮሚሽኑ ማንኛውንም የፀረ-ሰላም ቡድን እንቅስቃሴ ለመግታት የሚያስችል ብቃትና ዝግጁነት እንዳለው ጠቁሟል።

Ethiopia is preparing to start the second season of filling its Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and tensions with Egypt and Sudan are certain to rise even faster than the water.

Negotiations among the three countries have broken down and rational discussions have been replaced with accusations and counter-accusations. Amid the confusion, it is important to remember a few clear facts:

• Ethiopia does not feel bound by treaties signed by the British during the colonial era that allocate 100% of the Blue Nile water to Egypt and Sudan, and give Ethiopia absolutely no rights to a river that originates in and flows through Ethiopia. Ethiopia will not respect colonial era water rights treaties that it was excluded from.
•  
• Ethiopia will not abandon the GERD, a project that it has invested $5 billion to create.
•  
• Ethiopia and the entire region need the electricity that will be generated by the GERD. Power from the GERD is essential for Ethiopia to develop and lift its people from poverty.
•  
• Irrigation projects enabled by the GERD are essential to freeing Ethiopia from drought-induced famines that are certain to become more frequent and severe as a result of climate change.
•  
• The Blue Nile can benefit every nation that is home to its life-sustaining waters. No nation has an exclusive right to its water, and every nation has an obligation to protect and preserve the river. In building and wisely operating the GERD, Ethiopia will finally obtain some of the benefits that its neighbors have long enjoyed, and can do so without harming anyone.

Egypt and Sudan must recognize these realities and negotiate technical aspects of water management with Ethiopia in good faith. Egypt must renounce threats to bomb or sabotage the GERD. Sudan must withdraw from Ethiopian territory it has seized in recent months.

The Egyptian Proxy War With Ethiopia : Why Are Some of Our People Helping Them Win?

Some Ethiopians seem to be on the wrong side of an Egyptian proxy war against their own country. As ethnic-based killing and violence explodes in Ethiopia, the country has become a place where gruesome crimes against other human beings are committed with little remorse or accountability. It could trigger more massive killings, even genocide.

It is the responsibility of those who value every human life and the national unity of Ethiopia to do something about it. For years, Egypt has been attacking Ethiopian national unity by stoking the fires of division. It is finding fertile ground among ethno-nationalists, but is also strongly reinforced by Ethiopia’s governmental model of ethnic federalism and our ethnic-based Constitution, which could also be called institutionalized tribalism.

We, the people of Ethiopia, have a choice to say no; however, instead, some among us are fanning the flames of ethnic-based hatred, the desire for ethnic-based vengeance for crimes past and present and the dehumanization of others, based on identity. Never before have we seen such a widespread movement of ethnic-based hatred and violence as is now sweeping across the country. If it continues, we exponentially increase the risk of losing the whole country to anarchy and violence, played out against each other, our fellow-citizens. 

No single ethnic group will win if our country breaks apart, like Yugoslavia. If we participate in the destruction, or do not try to rise above it, or if we fail to warn others of the danger, who can we blame but ourselves? Those of us who care about living in peace and greater prosperity with each other, must get involved; however, as fear increases, many are giving up hope of national unity and; and instead, are returning to their ethnic-based  communities as they are put on the defensive.

It is important to consider what is behind all of this and how we can resist falling into the trap that will defeat us all. We are not simply looking at Ethiopians, but we must look beyond our borders to be more fully aware of external forces directed against us and our peace. Egypt is one of these external forces, and has been for years, even now openly speaking out about it

What does Egypt want?

We are a country that desperately needs truth, healing and forgiveness. We have made many mistakes. Let us make a turn around and make it right this time. አዲስ አበባ ፣ ሚያዝያ 14 ፣ 2013 (ኤፍ.ቢ.ሲ) በኡጋንዳ የኢትዮጵያ አምባሳደር  አለምፀሃይ መሰረት ከዩጋንዳ ውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስትር ዲኤታ ኦርየም ኦከሎ ጋር ውይይት አድርገዋል።

በውይይታቸውም መንግስት በትግራይ ክልል እያካሄደ ያለውን የመልሶ ማቋቋም እንቅሰቃሴ እና የታላቁ ህዳሴ ግድብ የሶስትዮሽ ድርድር ሂደትን በተመለከተ ማብራሪያ ሰጥተዋል።

በዚህም ሁለተኛ ዙር የውሃ ሙሌት የግድቡ የግንባታው አካል በመሆኑ በእቅዱ መሰረት እንደሚቀጥል፣ ኢትዮጵያ የሁለተኛ ዙር ውሃ ሙሌትን በተመለከተ የመረጃ ልውውጥ ለማድረግ ለሁለቱም የታችኛው ተፋሰስ ሃገራት ጥሪ ማቅረቧን እንዲሁም በአፍሪካ ህብረት  እየተካሄደ ያለው የሶስትዮሽ ድርድር መፍትሄ እንደሚያመጣ በጽኑ እንደምታምን አምባሳደር አለምጸሀይ አስረድተዋል።

ሚኒስትር ዲኤታው በበኩላቸው በትግራይ ክልል የተካሄደው የህግ-ማስከበር ዘመቻ በአጭር ጊዜ ማለቁን  በበጎ ጎን ማየታቸውን ገልጸው÷ በክልሉ ከሰብአዊ ቀውስና ሌሎች ተያያዥ ተግዳሮቶች የሚጠበቁ መሆናቸውን  ተናግረዋል፡፡

ለጉዳዩም መንግስት መፍትሄ ለመስጠት እያደረገ ያለውን ጥረት አድንቀዋል።

ከህዳሴ ግድቡ ጋር በተያያዘ ሚኒስትር ዲኤታው ኡጋንዳ ፍትሃዊ እና ምክንያታዊ የሆነ የአባይ ውሃ ተጠቃሚነትን በተመለከተ  የናይል አጠቃላይ ስምምነት ማዕቀፍን በመፈረም ያላትን ቁርጠኝነት ማሳየቷን አስታውሰዋል።

አሁንም በአባይ ወንዝ ፍትሃዊ ተጠቃሚነት ዙሪያ የፀና አቋም እንዳላትና የቅኝ ግዛት ስምምነቶች ተቀባይነት እንደሌላችውም አስረድተዋል፡፡

አያይዘም  ማንኛውም የተፋሰሱ አባል ሀገር ከአባይ ወንዝ የመጠቀም መብት እንዳለውና ይህም መከበር እንደሚገባው ተናግረዋል።

ኢትዮጵያ በአባይ ወንዝ  የምትገነባው ግድብ ኃይል ማመንጨት ሲጀምር በቀጠናው ያለውን ዝቅተኛ የሆነ የሃይል አቅርቦት ከማሳደግ አንጻር ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ እንደሚኖረውም አስረድተዋል።

ከፍተኛ ውሃ ከቪክቶሪያ ሀይቅና ከኡጋንዳ ግድቦች ካለፈው አመት ጀምሮ እየፈሰሰ እንደሚገኝ በመግለፅ ÷ በዚህም ከፍተኛ የውሃ መጠን የታችኛው ተፋሰስ ሀገራት እንዳገኙ፣ ዘንድሮም ከፍተኛ ዝናብ ይኖራል ተብሎ ስለሚጠበቅ የውሃ እጥረት እንደማያጋጥም ጠቁመል።

የግድቡ ሁለተኛው ዙር የውሃ ሙሌት በስኬት እንደሚጠናቀቅ ያላቸውን እምነት መግለጻቸውን ከውጭ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር ቃል አቀባይ ጽህፈት ቤት ያገኘነው መረጃ ያመላክታል።
