Ethiopia’s senior national team has lined up a friendly tie against Zambia in Lusaka this weekend.

The game is believed to serve both nations as they prepare for a crucial African Nations Championship (CHAN) last qualifying round match due after a fortnight. Ethiopia hosts Sudan, who beat Burundi in solitary goal last Saturday, whilst Zambia tackles South Africa in CHAN qualifier.

The Waliya Antelopes will depart to the Zambian capital on Thursday as they plan to return back to Addis Ababa on Monday. The game between Ethiopia and Zambia is slated for Sunday, August 6.

The Ethiopian national team, in a perplexing situation, has been in residential camp in Adama. Head coach Ashenafi Bekele is reportedly expressed his discontent on lack support from the Federation. The coach cited interference in his job as a major obstacle. It is rumored that the coach sent his resignation later after barely three month on the job. The former Adama Ketema coach is reportedly expected to resign on September after the CHAN qualifier doubleheader duel against neighbor’s Sudan.

The match gives the Waliyas the chance to seek to avenge a defeat against Zambia. The last time the two nations locked horns in 2015, an Allan Mukuka lone strike in the first half handed the Chipolopolos the win in Addis.
